A country I’d like to visit


If I had the possibility to visit a country, I’m quite sure that I would choose Spain. I could mention the soccer as a reason, dreaming about a spectacular match between Real Madrid and Barcelona. On the other hand, I have always felt intrigued about the arabic past of a part from Spain, specially how the centuries influenced either the arquitecture or the music, for example. Besides, I pretend to live for a few years out of my country, so Spain could be a good option to stay and maybe keep studing. Another reason would be that Chile and Spain suffered the goverment of a dictator, with a few years of diference, but in any case we share the ideological and political conflicts, a horrible peace of History of the last century that keeps hitting in the present. Those are the things that I’d do in Spain and I hope I can visit it soon.

    Hi Felipe, I am also fascinated by the Arab past of Spain. I think that one of the things that most catches my attention in this country is its bullfighting culture. not because I like it but because of its rawness

When I had to decide for a career, I was worried about the subjects I would learn and how the university would broach them. So I applied to Psychology at Universidad de Chile, especially because I realized it shares the faculty with other disciplines that are related to the social area too (‘Facultad de Ciencias Sociales’). In that sense, I would say that I admire the way Víctor Jara lived and died. I believe he could understand the spirit of their fellow countrymen and fellow countrywomen. He was born on 1932. Usually, the notion of technology is related with the usefulness. In that case, probably the most useful object is the mobile phone, because it’s got a lot of functions that the humans of our time need. But, if I have to choose, my favourite piece of technology would be the camera. I’ve been wondering about the memory and how fragile it is. Fragile because we forget almost everything that happens in the daily life, but also because sometimes we just need a tiny stimulus to recreate old memories. In my opinion, the photograph is an excellent way to do that. The camera helps me to remind how our streets were and how our faces have changed. It could be interpreted as a desperate act of trying to register everything. However, I think that’s impossible for the camera and for me.
